Game Drives in Kenya

A game drive in the Maasai Mara is one of Africa’s classic wildlife experiences, taking you across open savannah teeming with lions, elephants, cheetahs, and the resident herds of wildebeest and zebra. Riding in a 4×4 safari vehicle with an experienced guide, you cover ground quickly while staying close to the action.

Morning drives often catch predators finishing a night’s hunt in soft early light, while afternoon drives reveal animals gathering at rivers and waterholes as the heat of the day eases. Guides read tracks, radio calls, and animal behaviour to bring you to the best sightings.

Game drives can run half-day or full-day, and between July and October they offer front-row access to the Great Migration as herds cross the Mara River. It remains the centrepiece of any Kenyan safari.
