Diani Beach lies on Kenya’s south coast, a long stretch of white sand backed by palm trees and protected by an offshore coral reef that keeps the water calm and clear for much of its length. It has developed into one of Kenya’s most popular beach destinations, with a wide range of hotels, water sports operators and restaurants along the shore.
The protective reef makes conditions ideal for snorkelling and diving, while the open water beyond attracts deep-sea fishing charters and, in season, kitesurfers taking advantage of steady coastal winds. A small forest reserve nearby is also home to colobus monkeys, offering a brief wildlife encounter alongside the beach setting.
Diani is reached by flight to nearby Ukunda or by road from Mombasa, making it an easy and popular extension after an inland Kenya safari. Its combination of reliable weather and well-developed infrastructure makes it a comfortable choice for a longer coastal stay.
