Getting There

A short drive from Arusha city.

Arusha National Park is one of Tanzania’s most scenic and accessible wildlife destinations, located just a short drive from Arusha city. Set around Mount Meru, the park combines lush forests, open grasslands, volcanic landscapes and peaceful lakes, creating a diverse environment for wildlife and outdoor adventures.

The park is home to giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, warthogs, monkeys and numerous bird species. Visitors may also encounter elephants and other wildlife during game drives. Unlike many larger safari destinations, Arusha National Park offers a variety of activities, including walking safaris, canoeing and guided nature experiences.

For travelers arriving in Arusha before or after a northern Tanzania safari, the park provides an excellent introduction to Tanzania’s landscapes and wildlife. It can also be combined with destinations such as Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park for a longer safari adventure.
